The procedures below were outlined by Jason Cole for use by Project field crews. They will produce results consistent with those our project was attempting to obtain while locating ground reference. These procedures may not be fully equivalent to those required for other applications.

Rover Field Procedures for Rapid Static Observations

 

Default Settings

  • Coordinate System                   WGS84 Geodetic
  • Observation Rate                      5 seconds
  • Measurements                      Meters
  • Antenna Mask Angle                15°

 

Default settings can be changed under CONFIGURATION, in the main menu. 

 

Survey Procedures

 

  1. Setup unit over point
  2. Turn receiver on
  3. Press any key to go to the main menu
  4. Select CONFIGURATION - CONT (F1)
  5. Select  Sensor and Antenna - CONT (F1)
    • Set the correct antenna - CONT (F1)

Note:  Antenna selection only needs to be changed if controller and antenna are switched.  Instrument will inform you with an Error message - wrong sensor type.

 

  1. Select MISSIONS - CONT (F1)
  2. Select RPDSTS Rapid Statics – RUN (F1)
  3. CONT (F1)
  4. Define Project – PROJECT – (F2)
    • ADD (F6) to enter a new project
      • Fill in the desired information (Project)
      • STORE (F2)
    • SEARCH (F3) to find an existing project
      • Select with the arrow keys
      • CONT (F1)
  5. Define Job – JOB – (F3)
    • ADD (F6) to enter a new job
      • Fill in the desired information (Job name)
        • Use a the date in the description
      • STORE (F2)
    • SEARCH (F3) to find an existing job
      • Select with the arrow keys
      • CONT (F1)

Note if the Project or the Job is already defined steps 7 and or 8 can be skipped

 

  1. CONT (F1)
  2.  Set Operation Type: STATIC  CONT (F1)
  3.  Set Data Collection Parameters
    • Compacted of sampled: Compacted
    • Obs.-rate static: 5 secs
    • CONT (F1)
  4. Set Stop-Go Parameters
    • Stop at 100%: NO
    • Stop at maximum time: NO
    • CONT (F1)
  5. Set Point Id Parameters
    • Use auto increment: NO
    • SET (F2) to store setup if it is going to be used multiple times
    • CONT (F1)
  6. Survey: STS
    • Enter info
      • Point Id
      • Ht.readg
      • Ant.offset

Note: Measurements are in Meters

 

  1. MEAS (F1)
  2. STOP to end measurement
    • Y  to stop measurement
  3. REC-PT (F1)
  4. EXIT-M (F2)
    • Y to exit measure
  5. Back at main menu
    • Turn off instrument (OFF)
  6. Break unit down to move to the next point

§         Select with the arrow keys

§         CONT (F1)

  1. Define Job - JOB - (F3)
    • ADD (F6) to enter a new job

§         Fill in the desired information (Job name)

·        Use a the date in the description

§         STORE (F2)

    • SEARCH (F3) to find an existing job

§         Select with the arrow keys

§         CONT (F1)

    • Datalink messages: OFF
  4. Set NMEA Parameters
    • NMEA output: OFF
    • Time system: UTC

  5. Set Initial Position
    • If coordinates are know they can be entered here

·        Add to coordinates

·        STORE (F2)

Note: Coordinates must be entered correctly, if unsure of exact coordinates let the unit determine them and the correct coordinates can be entered during post processing.

  1. Set Satellite Tracking Control
    • Health and L@ mode: AUTO
    • Minimum elevation: 15°
    • CONT (F1)
  2. Set Data Collection Parameters
    • Compacted of sampled: COMPACTED
    • Obs. –rate static: 5 secs
    • CONT (F1)
  3. Set Stop-Go Parameters
    • Stop at 100%: NO
    • Stop at maximum time: NO
    • CONT (F1)
  4. Set Point Id Parameters
    • Use auto increment: NO
    • SET (F2) to store setup if it is going to be used multiple times
    • CONT (F1)
  5. Survey: STS
    • Enter info
